Preston Bus awarded Lancashire Green Award
PRESTON Bus have been awarded Green Business of the Year by Lancashire Green Awards.
The award ceremony was held in Blackpool, where the company, who were runners up for the award last year, were up against three other finalists in the Green Business category.
A spokesperson for the company said: “[It feels] absolutely wonderful! We feel this award was a “well done” to all our drivers, as it’s largely down to their efforts in utilising their EcoDriving training techniques that has enabled to company to cut its carbon footprint again this year.
“We’ve made major investments over the last couple of years – in new technology such as our diesel electric hybrid buses, and telematics systems on our fleet, which tell us how each bus, and each driver performs.
“We’ve also invested in driver training to get the most out of our new technology. It’s this training which we feel has made the major difference this year. These factors have combined to enable us to save the equivalent of nine tanker loads of fuel this year, and to reduce our emissions by over 1,000 tonnes of CO2.”
